PURPOSE
NIPHC is dedicated to strengthening the capacity of health departments in Northern Illinois to respond to threats of the health of the public and promote and assure the health of people and communities.
DEFINITION OF PUBLIC HEALTH
Public Health is the science and art of improving population health through the engagement of individuals, families, private organizations, and public organizations, as participants in civil society. To this end, using health trending data (known as health informatics) to inform choice is essential for community well-being.
MISSION
The mission of NIPHC is to promote and protect the health of the region through coordinated and collaborative action that raises public awareness, builds constituency, and influences legislation and policy concerning public health issues affecting northern Illinois.
Upcoming Event - Elevating Public Health in Illinois (EPI) Retreat
The Northern Illinois Public Health Consortium’s (NIPHC) Health Informatics and Epidemiology subcommittee is hosting a conference called the Elevating Public Health in Illinois (EPI) Retreat on October 18, 2024 at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health. The theme for this year's retreat is "From Planning to Dissemination: The Epidemiology Data Life Cycle". This event will be an opportunity to connect with Epidemiologists, Health Informaticians, Data Analysts, and anyone working with Public Health Data from across the state of Illinois, crosscutting various organizations including IDPH, CDPH, CCDPH, Kane County, McHenry County, UIC, and more.
